It feels a bit surreal to write this, but after many years, I’m winding down HyperStream.co.uk.
This site has been part of my life for a long time, it actually started shortly after I left university. Back then, a good friend and I set it up with the big dream of launching a web design agency. Like a lot of early ventures, it didn’t quite take off the way we’d imagined. But I held onto the name, and over the years, HyperStream became something else entirely: a sandbox, a digital home, and a quiet corner of the internet where I could build, share, and learn in public.
I’ve used it to host client work, test ideas, blog about tech, and even experiment with productivity systems. It’s been my go-to domain for side projects and an evolving personal portfolio. It’s hard to put into words how many phases this little site has followed me through.
Why I’m moving on
Over the last few years, my focus has shifted. These days, I’m working full-time in DevOps, building infrastructure, automating pipelines, integrating cloud services, and more recently, exploring how AI fits into the way we build and operate systems.
As my role has become more specialized, I felt it was time for a fresh start, a site that reflects who I am professionally today. That’s why I’ve launched alanops.com.
AlanOps is a cleaner, more focused space for:
- Sharing DevOps practices, tools, and lessons from the field
- Documenting experiments with automation and cloud infrastructure
- Exploring the intersection of AI and DevOps (a growing interest of mine)
- Reflecting on the mental side of working in tech, from productivity to focus to growth
If you’ve found anything useful or interesting on HyperStream over the years, I’d love to stay connected. I’ll be writing regularly over there, and I hope you’ll stop by.
One last thanks
To everyone who supported this site, collaborated on ideas, or just popped in to read a blog post: thank you. HyperStream may not have become the digital agency we first imagined, but it’s been a loyal companion on my journey — and it’s helped shape the path I’m on today.
It’s time to let it go.
See you at alanops.com 👋
