Over the last few years I found myself in a posi­tion of need­ing to man­age a num­ber of projects.  I had used Microsoft project in the past, but I found this to be way to com­plex for my needs and after being on the receiv­ing end of what other project man­agers had given me in the past I was already glaz­ing over at the prospect.

All I needed was a way to quickly cre­ate, assign tasks and track the time taken. I also knew that hav­ing an online web based sys­tem would be very beneficial.

My pri­or­i­ties were as follows:

• Need to work online and be shared with clients and staff
• Be able to track time
• Bud­get was lim­ited, so free or open source was impor­tant and to we needed the abil­ity to install on own servers

After much trial and error over the course of a few weeks I even­tu­ally set­tled with Clockin­gIT. This is the per­fect project man­age­ment sys­tem for small teams and can I highly rec­om­mend that any­one look­ing for a new sys­tem checks it out before mak­ing any decisions.
